Extreme heat may lead to temporary kindergarten closures across Uzbekistan.
Uzbekistan is considering the temporary closure of state kindergartens as the country continues to experience extreme heat, the Ministry of Preschool and School Education told Kun.uz..
Due to the ongoing extreme heat, Uzbekistan is contemplating the temporary closure of state kindergartens, as reported by the Ministry of Preschool and School Education to Kun.uz.
The ministry is working in collaboration with regional administrations, the Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health, and Uzhydromet to evaluate the current situation.
As stated by the ministry, any closures will not be implemented on a national scale. Instead, local authorities will decide whether to halt kindergarten operations based on the weather conditions and the sanitary and epidemiological circumstances in their respective areas.
"The situation is being assessed separately in every region. If necessary, the activities of preschool education institutions may be temporarily suspended," the ministry noted.
Previously, officials in the Republic of Karakalpakstan had temporarily closed both public and private preschool education institutions due to the extreme heat, following recommendations from the sanitary and epidemiological service.
