Truck Driver Dies in Fiery Samarkand Crash
A truck driver in Uzbekistan's Samarkand region perished after his MAN vehicle's cabin erupted in flames while in motion, leading to a fatal crash, the Road Safety Department reported.
The incident took place on August 6, around 4:00 PM, on the A-378 highway's 35th kilometer, specifically within the Mehnatkash neighborhood of the Nurabad district.
Initial findings suggest that the truck was en route from Samarkand to Kashkadarya when a fire suddenly ignited inside the cabin. The driver's attempt to bring the vehicle to a halt was unsuccessful, resulting in a loss of control. The truck subsequently struck a concrete barrier and overturned.
The driver succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident.
The investigative department of the Nurabad District Department of Internal Affairs has initiated a criminal case concerning the crash. Investigations are ongoing to ascertain the precise cause of the fire and the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
