Activity Increased Across All Segments of the Automotive Market in June — CERR

The secondary market accounted for approximately 61% of total passenger car sales. At the same time, growth in the secondary market, at 16%, outpaced the 11% increase recorded in the primary segment.

The Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR) has released its regular analysis of Uzbekistan's automotive market, revealing a surge in activity across all segments during June. The review encompasses key market segments and regional trends.

Overall motor vehicle sales in June surpassed 80,200 units, marking an 18% increase from May.

**Regional Dynamics**

Most regions of the country experienced a rise in motor vehicle sales in June, with the Jizzakh region being the sole exception, recording a slight month-on-month decline of 2.2%.

The Surkhandarya region led in growth rates with a 33.7% increase, followed closely by the Khorezm region at 32.6%. Other regions showing significant growth included Syrdarya (29%), Samarkand (28.3%), Kashkadarya (26.2%), and Andijan (26%).

In Tashkent, motor vehicle sales climbed by 9% over the month, reaching 17,900 units.

**Passenger Car Market**

Total passenger car sales in June reached 61,400 units, a 14% increase compared to May.

**Primary Passenger Car Market**

New passenger car sales rose by 11% to 24,000 units. Domestically manufactured vehicles were the primary driver of this growth, with their sales increasing by 12% to 18,800 units.

Sales of new foreign-manufactured vehicles totaled 5,100 units, an almost 7% increase from the previous month.

For the first half of 2026, new passenger car sales saw a 3.5% increase compared to the same period last year, reaching 157,000 units.

**Secondary Passenger Car Market**

Used passenger car sales increased by over 16% during the month, exceeding 37,000 units.

In the first half of the year, secondary market passenger car sales reached nearly 240,000 units, which was 18% lower than the figure recorded in the corresponding period of the previous year.

**Electric Vehicle Market**

June saw combined primary and secondary market electric vehicle sales reach 8,400 units, a substantial 63.5% increase compared to May 2026.

Over 40,000 electric vehicles were sold in the first half of the year, representing a 40% increase from the same period last year.

Increased activity in electric vehicle sales was observed in most regions, with only the Syrdarya region experiencing a decline of 2.9%.

The Jizzakh region recorded the highest growth rate at 101%, followed by the Bukhara region at 64.6% and the Fergana region at 58.5%.

Electric vehicle sales remained heavily concentrated in Tashkent, which accounted for approximately 63% of the total market in June. Sales in the capital surged by 78% compared to May of this year, reaching 5,300 units.
