About 17.2 thousand hectares of land from neighboring districts will be added to the territory of Samarkand city

In connection with the expansion of the area of the city of Samarkand, a total of 17,226.5 hectares of land are being transferred from four neighboring districts. This was reported by the press service of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis.

This decision is considered not only an administrative change, but also an important strategic step for the future development of the city. The lands transferred to the city are the following districts:

* Samarkand district — 13,308 hectares;

* Aqdarya district — 1,410.6 hectares;

* Toyloq district — 1,265.6 hectares;

* Past Dargom district — 1,242.3 hectares.

The revision of the borders will eliminate the problems with the cadastre and communal services that have long plagued the population. For example, previously, two corridors of a 4-lane residential building belonged to the Samarkand district, and the other two to the city territory, which led to many confusions when registering cadastral documents or when a house located in the district received utility services from another territory. It was noted that the new project will solve such problems in one go.

Also, measures are being taken to effectively connect the newly added areas of the city with the center and reduce traffic jams on internal roads. It was reported that the Ministry of Transport is improving the previously developed transport master plan in order to properly distribute traffic flows and create convenient public transport for the population.

Earlier, it was reported that it is planned to increase the area of the city of Samarkand from the current 11.2 thousand hectares to 28.4 thousand hectares, and the Samarkand district is being abolished as a separate administrative-territorial unit.
