Zelensky announced the establishment of the "Carpathian Eight"

"We are launching a new C8 format — the Carpathian Eight, which unites us and our European neighbors: Romania, Serbia, Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary and, of course, the entire European Union," he said.

Zelensky said that the new format should unite countries, regions and local communities in the Carpathian region. C8 participants plan to cooperate in the areas of security, energy, logistics and transboundary economy.

The first summit of the "Carpathian Eight" began on September 18 in Ukraine's Ivano-Frankivsk region. It is being attended by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, as well as the Presidents of Serbia and Romania, Aleksandar Vučić and Nicușor Dan.

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, who had announced his visit to Ukraine the day before, did not come to the summit.

Zelensky also announced that about 550 business representatives are expected to participate in the summit, and investment and trade agreements worth one billion euros are expected to be signed at its conclusion.
