Xalq Banki entered the ranking of the world's most efficient banks according to Forbes

For the first time, Forbes has compiled a global ranking of banks based on financial performance. Xalq Banki from Uzbekistan was included in the list of 500 banks. We look into what this ranking means and which of the bank's indicators could have influenced the result.

Xalq Banki has entered the ranking of the world's most efficient banks according to Forbes

On September 9, Forbes presented its first World’s Top Performing Banks 2026 ranking. It includes 500 banks from 89 countries. Xalq Banki took 142nd place in the Tier 6 category, where Forbes included banks with assets ranging from $3 billion to $10 billion.

It is important to clarify: this is not 142nd place among all banks in the world. First, Forbes divided the participants into six groups by asset size so that large global banks would not be compared directly with much smaller financial institutions.

Forbes already has a World’s Best Banks ranking. It is mainly based on customer surveys: participants are asked about their satisfaction with the bank, trust, quality of service, digital services, and other characteristics.

World’s Top Performing Banks is structured differently.

Forbes and the research company Statista used banks' financial data, information from major data providers including S&P Capital IQ, the results of their own research, and information that banks could provide to verify the relevance of the indicators.

To participate in the ranking, a bank had to have assets of more than $3 billion, publish audited financial statements, and have comparable data for at least three consecutive years. Forbes noted that if reporting for 2025 was available, the latest available financial year was used, otherwise 2024 was used.

After that, the banks were evaluated in four areas:

● profitability, 30% of the final score

● growth and quality of income, 20%
