"Winter is getting closer, and people need gas." Head of Uzbekneftegaz on preparations for the season

Uzbekneftegaz has launched a 30-day preparation phase for the autumn-winter period.

The company reported that a large volume of work has been carried out since the beginning of the year to maintain stable gas production. However, in several areas, indicators remain below expectations, despite the availability of necessary reserves and funding.

Sanginov ordered a focus on work directly at the fields and wells, as well as on the personal responsibility of specialists for specific results.

"Where are we making mistakes? What other measures need to be taken to achieve results? Winter is getting closer, and people need gas," stated Abdugani Sanginov.

According to him, it is no longer enough to make decisions only at the top level.

"Every instruction must reach the field, every single well, and the result must be measurable," said the head of the company.

At the meeting, the experience of the Mubarek Oil and Gas Production Department was specifically highlighted, where the work of employees responsible for gas production at each well began to be evaluated based on KPIs (key performance indicators).

It was ordered to implement this approach on an experimental basis in all production departments of the company.

At the same time, there are plans to monthly reward departments that maintain the baseline production volume and prevent its decline. The goal is to increase the efficiency of existing wells and stop the decline in production.

The company emphasized that in the run-up to winter, "every cubic meter of gas matters." In this regard, it was ordered to accelerate the development of deep wells, work with the existing well stock, drilling using new designs in cooperation with foreign partners, and the connection of new wells.

In addition, there are plans to establish commercial gas production from wells in the border zone.

Working groups will also be created involving production departments, design institutes, geologists, dispatch services, and foreign partners. They will have to travel to the sites, analyze the decline in well flow rates, and monitor the execution of operational tasks.

Starting September 16, such inspections have been ordered to begin under the leadership of the company's deputy chairmen.

The meeting also reviewed the results of the measures taken at the Gissarneftegaz joint venture.

According to the company, following the changes, oil and gas condensate production doubled. At the same time, the fulfillment of the production plan for January–August was only 61%. This figure was criticized. The task has been set to bring the plan fulfillment to at least 90% by the end of the year.

In addition, it was ordered to commission new wells planned for the second half of September, maintain stable flow rates of existing wells, make fuller use of production capacities, and eliminate emergency shutdowns.

Separately, it was ordered to monitor the delivery of small compressor stations, prepare sites for them in advance, and accelerate earthworks at the M-25 field, taking advantage of favorable weather conditions.

In January–July, natural gas production in Uzbekistan decreased by about 15% year-on-year to 21.6 billion cubic meters, or by 3.8 billion cubic meters. At the same time, in July, gas production recovered after the June slump: production grew by 32% over the month to 3.3 billion cubic meters. However, compared to July last year, the figure was still 7.9% lower.
