Winners of the national children's literature contest announced

Today, on October 23, the award ceremony for the winners of the national creative contest "Best Work of Fiction for Children" was held at the Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature named after Alisher Navoi. The event was attended by the leadership of the Ministry of Education and Science, the Republican Scientific and Methodological Center for Educational Development, and the university, as well as educators and contest winners.

The contest was organized in September–October 2026 in cooperation with the Republican Scientific and Methodological Center for Educational Development, the Ministry of Education and Science, and the university. Its main goal is to support the creation of age-appropriate, meaningful, and high-quality artistic works for children and adolescents, to increase interest in reading in the Uzbek language, and to encourage talented authors.

Applications and creative works for the contest were accepted through a special platform. A total of 198 creative works were received by September 15. An expert group consisting of 12 specialists was involved to evaluate them.

The experts analyzed the content of the works, their artistic quality, age-appropriateness for readers, and compliance with the contest's goals. The principles of objectivity, independence, and transparency were observed during the evaluation process.

The works submitted to the contest covered topics such as attitudes toward nature and the environment, historical memory, visions of the future, self-awareness, and personal choice. Among them are works such as "Attention! The Tree is Speaking", "Living Traces of History", "One Step Toward the Future", "The Future is Unknown", and "I Chose Myself".

It was emphasized that the evaluation was not limited solely to the theme and title of the works. The artistic expression, consistency of content, and appropriateness for the intended age group were also taken into account.

The creative works were divided into several categories based on the readers' age and literary needs. In particular, fairy tales were selected for children aged 6–10, fairy tales and short stories for children aged 11–14, and short stories for adolescents aged 15–17.

At the conclusion of the contest, based on the experts' findings, 23 works were recommended for inclusion in literary collections intended for children and adolescents. Based on these works, three collections tailored to the age categories were formed.
