The public's opinions on the project to improve the pension system were discussed at a press conference with the participation of officials. It was stated that the proposals submitted regarding the document will be studied, the opinions to be taken into account will be reflected in the text of the draft, and a reasoned response will be provided for those that are rejected.

On September 25, a press conference dedicated to the proposed reforms to improve the pension provision system was held. Representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Extra-Budgetary Pension Fund participated in it.
At the event, a **Kun.uz** correspondent asked questions regarding the short period set for the public discussion of the pension reform, the opposing views being expressed on the project, and the proposal to take into account a 20-year wage period when calculating pensions.
### Why will the project be under discussion for at least 15 days?
The pension reform project was presented for public discussion on September 15.
The discussion is scheduled to end on September 30.
During the Q&A session, it was asked why the project would remain under public discussion for exactly 15 days, and whether it is possible to extend the discussion period since the changes in the pension system affect the interests of millions of citizens.
According to Nozimjon Jo‘rayev, head of the Department for Improving the Regulatory Framework of the Extra-Budgetary Pension Fund, the legislation stipulates that draft laws must remain under public discussion for at least 15 days. At the same time, there is no restriction on the project remaining under discussion for more than 15 days.
"According to the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Regulatory Legal Acts, it is stipulated that a project must remain under public discussion for at least 15 days. Therefore, it is currently being said that it will remain for 15 days. However, this project may also remain for more than 15 days. In order to gather more feedback and opinions, the discussion period can be extended; there is no restriction on this. We are currently referring to the shortest period specified in the legislation," Nozimjon Jo‘rayev said.
### Opposing views may also affect the fate of the project
It was noted that during the public discussion, more than 1,700 opinions were expressed regarding the project, a significant portion of which are against raising the retirement age.
The official was asked whether the citizens' proposals, particularly regarding not raising the retirement age, would be taken into account in the final document.
