Who should not consume plums?

Eating plums in excess is considered dangerous even for a healthy person. Often, the harm of fruits is associated with their incorrect consumption. Plums should not be consumed by certain categories of people: the high content of glucose and fructose in the product can lead to diabetes and weight gain; high acidity causes exacerbation of gastritis; individual sensitivity exists; nursing mothers should not consume plums, as plums can cause diarrhea and bloating in infants.

Plums should be introduced into the diet with caution. Children who eat plums in large quantities may experience stomach upset, as well as pain in the epigastric region (located in the central part of the abdomen and above the navel).

It is not recommended for children under 3 years of age to consume fresh plums. Pediatricians state that a small amount of plum puree can be added to porridge and cottage cheese.

The health of people who consume many vegetables and fruits rich in flavonoids improves, and they suffer less from cardiovascular system diseases and neoplasms. Such beneficial components are also present in plums.

Plums contain active substances — flavonoids, namely anthocyanins, which give the fruits their purple color. The fruits retain their beneficial properties even after processing. Plums contain: vitamin C; vitamin A; fructose and sucrose; dietary fiber; organic acids; nitrogenous substances, tannins; macro and microelements.

The main beneficial aspect of plums is that they gently cleanse the intestines and normalize the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract. Plums have the ability to stimulate appetite and increase intestinal motility, and are beneficial in atherosclerosis, reducing cholesterol accumulation on the walls of blood vessels.

If you do not have health problems, you can consume 3-4 pieces a day, and if you are prone to diarrhea, no more than two.

Plums can be combined with various porridges. They can be an excellent dessert for a second breakfast or after dinner. You should not eat plums on an empty stomach and drink milk after them.
