Who could be Islam Makhachev's next opponent? His coach answered

Islam Makhachev's trainer Javier Mendes has expressed his opinion on who his next opponent could be. The UFC welterweight champion noted that the most realistic candidate for Makhachev's next fight is Brazilian Carlos Prates. The trainer made this statement in an interview with the Submission Radio YouTube channel.

"I think Islam's next opponent will be Brazilian Carlos Prates. Because Shavkat Rakhmonov has not yet fully recovered from his injury. Therefore, candidates such as Michael Morales or Carlos Prates are being considered. Given the current situation in the UFC and recent discussions, I think they will choose the Prates option. But you never know for sure what is happening behind closed doors," the American expert said.

It should be noted that Islam Makhachev successfully defended his welterweight title on August 16 in the main event of the UFC 330 tournament in Philadelphia, USA, defeating Yan Machado Garrin by unanimous decision. With this victory, the Dagestan athlete became the first fighter in UFC history to win 17 consecutive fights.

At the post-fight press conference, Makhachev expressed his desire to have one more fight before the end of the year.
