The Yutong ZK6890BEVG (E9) electric bus, a compact 9-meter model from the Chinese manufacturer Yutong, is being tested in Tashkent. This is not the first time this vehicle has been tested; Yutong reported that testing in the capital of Uzbekistan began earlier this year.
On August 12, 2026, the Yutong ZK6890BEVG electric bus began service on route No. 26 "Mahalla Majnuntol - Oloy Market." The route is serviced by the 1st Bus Park branch.
The current tests are being conducted under a one-month temporary vehicle loan agreement between Toshshahartranskhizmat JSC and the Chinese company Yutong Holdco Co. A Yutong representative confirmed that the electric bus was transferred to Toshshahartranskhizmat for this specific period for trial operation.
During testing, specialists evaluate the bus's technical and operational characteristics in Tashkent conditions, passenger service convenience, and vehicle efficiency.
Route No. 26 connects the city's inner streets with its central districts, and this is why buses of this 9-meter length are used.
According to the manufacturer, the Yutong E9 electric bus is a compact, low-floor model designed for urban routes with narrow streets, as well as suburban lines.
The bus is just under 9 meters long, 2.42 meters wide, and approximately 3.3 meters high, allowing it to navigate narrow city streets without difficulty. The interior seats 22 passengers plus a wheelchair area, and, including standing passengers, the bus can carry up to 62 people. Entry and exit are through two doors.
The electric bus is powered by a 160 kW motor (up to 240 kW in peak mode) and is powered by a 289 kWh liquid-cooled battery. The bus is charged via a European-standard charging port.
The front axle is equipped with independent air suspension and disc brakes, while the rear axle is equipped with Dongfeng air suspension and 265/70R19.5 tires.
The interior is equipped with air conditioning and charging ports for electronic devices.
The E9 model is part of the Yutong electric bus lineup, along with larger models—the E7S, E11PRO, E12, and E18PRO.
The manufacturer positions Yutong as the world's largest supplier of electric buses and electric cars, and the company also has a separate representative office for the Uzbek market.
According to Yutong's representative office in Uzbekistan, the E9 model was unveiled in Tashkent in January 2026.
Following the unveiling, the electric bus was transferred to Route 76 for a one-month trial run.
According to the company, the vehicle performed well on busy road sections with heavy passenger traffic.
Following this, tests of the electric bus were conducted in other regions of the country.
Based on the current tests, data will be collected on the electric bus's operation in Tashkent.
