On October 9, American YouTuber, content creator, and philanthropist Jimmy Donaldson, known as **MrBeast**, visited Uzbekistan. Famous for his massive-budget videos, unusual challenges, million-dollar prizes, and charitable projects, he has over 520 million subscribers on YouTube.
The blogger's visit to Uzbekistan was organized by the country's Art and Culture Development Foundation. Organizers state that this visit could serve to increase the share of the creative economy, support digital industries, and bring international media technologies to the region.
Arriving at the Center for Contemporary Art in Tashkent, the blogger first greeted the gathered crowd and unveiled a large wall mural depicting himself and his team. It portrays the creators visiting Samarkand and Khorezm.
Following this, MrBeast held a contest with big prizes among Uzbek fans. From the 232 thousand applicants who registered on the foundation's official page a few days before the event, 200 people were selected.
In the first stage of the competition, participants had to answer questions on a special platform. The 10 people who successfully passed this stage advanced to the next round. The 3 finalists who were able to answer the questions in the next stage played ball on a green field.
MrBeast awarded each of the 3 winning finalists a prize of 100 million UZS. One of the winners stated he would use his winnings as a down payment for purchasing a new home, while another mentioned he would spend it on developing his online content.
Then the YouTuber met with more than 100 young fans outside the field. He distributed Feastables sweets under his brand to them.
At the end of his visit to Tashkent, Jimmy Donaldson expressed his joy at being here and filming one of his videos. “It's always nice to meet our fans in different parts of the world. I express my gratitude to everyone who came today and made this event truly special,” said the creator.
After the meeting with fans, which lasted until evening, the blogger headed to Samarkand on October 10. At Registan Square, he was surrounded by thousands of young fans. Videos circulating on social media show the crowd that came to see him caught in a crush. The blogger himself confirmed this and shared his impressions on his Instagram page. He thanked the fans, but also admitted that the commotion made filming difficult.
“To be honest, I can say that Uzbekistan has the most hardcore fan base I've ever seen. I mean, this is insane. We can't even cross the street. I think there are more than a thousand people here, following behind our car. Look at how many people! We had to call a police officer to escort us. I don't know, but the honking never stops. Maybe my being here is causing too much stress. Maybe we should leave. My head of security is panicking,” he noted.
On the same day, the blogger returned to Tashkent with his wife on a high-speed train and concluded his trip to the country. According to the Art and Culture Development Foundation, the blogger's work schedule in Uzbekistan was agreed upon in advance. Not a single item in the program was canceled, and his departure date was also scheduled in advance.
After MrBeast returned to the US, his creative team continued filming in Bukhara and Khorezm the day after the visit. The footage shot in 4 regions of Uzbekistan will be used in one of the blogger's upcoming videos, and the mural painted on the wall was also dedicated to this video, explained the Art and Culture Development Foundation.
Gazeta was unable to get answers to questions about which organization funded the visit of MrBeast and his team to Uzbekistan. However, according to online data, the cost of a 30-second ad placed on the famous YouTuber's page exceeds $2.5 million. These are figures from early 2024 reviewed by Business Insider, based on court documents between MrBeast and his former business partner. He himself has stated that he spends around $3-4 million to produce the videos he posts on social networks.
The 28-year-old creator started his activity in 2012 under the name MrBeast6000. In 2017, he began gaining popularity on the internet with a video showing him counting to 100,000.
Jimmy Donaldson's work reaches a global audience through popular shows, competitions, and giveaway campaigns, including distributing millions of dollars worth of food and essential goods to those in need. He is the founder of media and product services company Beast Industries and the chocolate and snacks brand Feastables. He is also the host of "Beast Games," the most-watched unscripted series in Amazon Prime Video history.
Donaldson started his YouTube channel in 2012 at age 13 and uses the platform to build large-scale charitable movements and businesses. His global initiatives #TeamTrees and #TeamSeas have raised a combined total of over $50 million for forest restoration and ocean cleanup. In 2020, he launched the Beast Philanthropy organization. This organization has distributed over 20 million free meals and led dozens of projects, including building freshwater wells in Cameroon, Kenya, Somalia, Uganda, and Zimbabwe, constructing homes for hurricane victims in Kentucky, providing housing for the homeless in Costa Rica, and delivering over $3 million in humanitarian aid to Ukrainian refugees.
In 2022, he launched Feastables. The brand aims to eradicate child labor in cocoa farming: farmers are paid a living income, Fair Trade certified cocoa beans are used, and in partnership with child labor elimination systems, child labor on farms is audited and phased out.
Donaldson and his team regularly collaborate with brands and celebrities across media, entertainment, sports, technology, retail, and hospitality sectors. In 2024, in partnership with Amazon MGM Studios, he created "Beast Games." This 10-episode reality competition features 1,000 contestants competing for a $10 million cash prize. It became the largest contestant pool and the largest single cash prize in television history. The series became Prime Video's top unscripted series in 80 countries and marks the platform's biggest unscripted content debut.
Donaldson lives with his family in Greenville, North Carolina.
