West Ham ask fans not to sing anti-Palestinian songs

West Ham have asked their fans to stop singing anti-Palestinian songs.

Championship side West Ham have urged their supporters to stop chanting anti-Palestinian slogans and chants ahead of their first home game of the season, Al Jazeera reported.

In a statement released on Thursday, August 20, the London club said they were aware of "offensive and divisive" chants being chanted by some fans during their away game against Burnley in the Premier League.

"We encourage our fans to support our club and players loudly and proudly. However, this must not be in a way that causes division or abuse among other fans," the club said in a statement.

West Ham United signed Israeli winger Manor Solomon from Tottenham in the summer transfer window, but the player's outspoken support for Israel amid the war in Gaza has sparked a backlash and divided the club's fans.
