Water supply stopped in the whole of Kyiv after Russian strikes

Following large-scale strikes on Ukraine's energy sector, water supply across Kyiv stopped on November 3. Emergency power outages began in the capital and the Kyiv region, and tram and trolleybus services in the city were also halted. Special centers are being opened for residents to warm up and charge their phones.

Following Russian strikes, water supply has stopped across the whole of Kyiv. According to DW, local authorities, "Kyivvodokanal," and the national energy company "Ukrenergo" reported disruptions in supply.

"Ukrenergo" assessed the attack as one of the largest attacks on Ukraine's energy sector. According to the company, Russia launched targeted strikes on energy facilities more than 20 times over the past day.

"The situation regarding electricity supply in Kyiv is very complicated," said the city's mayor, Vitali Klitschko.

According to him, facilities in the Kyiv regional energy system were damaged as a result of attacks in recent days. For this reason, "Ukrenergo" introduced emergency blackout measures.

Klitschko stated that special warming centers are being set up for residents in the districts where the situation is most critical. There, people can warm up and charge their phones and other devices.

The Kyiv City State Administration reported that tram and trolleybus traffic was suspended from the evening of November 3. Additional bus services were launched on some of their routes.

Plans are to restore tram and trolleybus traffic after the situation in the energy system stabilizes.

The metro was operating as normal at the time of reporting. However, the city administration stated that its further operation would also depend on the situation in the energy system.

Apart from Kyiv, electricity supply problems were also observed in other regions of Ukraine. On the afternoon of November 3, special emergency shutdown schedules were introduced in the Sumy and Poltava regions.

Under such a schedule, it is impossible to say exactly how long consumers will be without electricity.

According to data from the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, the most difficult situation regarding electricity supply that morning was recorded in the Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, and Kharkiv regions.

At the same time, emergency power outages were reported in the city of Kyiv, as well as in the Kyiv, Poltava, Sumy, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, and Kharkiv regions.
