Uzbekneftegaz accelerates well launches and repairs

Uzbekneftegaz is intensifying efforts to commission wells and conduct repairs.

Uzbekneftegaz Joint Stock Company is accelerating its efforts to increase natural gas production. This is being achieved through the accelerated commissioning of new wells, major repairs, and emergency prevention at production facilities. At a recent working meeting chaired by the company's Chairman of the Board, Abdugani Sanginov, issues related to drilling progress, the condition of compressor stations, power supply, geological exploration, and production infrastructure were discussed.

As part of its plan implementation review for the period from August 1 to 24, the company's management assessed the condition of 11 wells. During this period, drilling was completed at eight sites, seven of which have already been commissioned. This increased daily gas production by 1.7 million cubic meters.

However, not all planned work was completed on time. One well failed to achieve a commercial gas flow, and the commissioning of another well has been postponed until early September. Responsible officials have been instructed to complete drilling operations at three more wells within the established timeframes.

The company emphasized that monitoring is carried out at all stages—from drilling to well commissioning and the determination of actual incremental production volumes. This approach is intended to ensure an assessment of not only the completion of individual work stages but also the final production result.

The meeting focused on well workovers. Of the eight wells scheduled for commissioning between August 1 and 24, all achieved a commercial gas flow. Actual incremental production amounted to 310,000 cubic meters, exceeding the planned 235,000 cubic meters.

The target for commissioning 11 more wells from August 21 to 31 is to achieve an additional 340,000 cubic meters of gas. The progress and deadlines for each well were reviewed separately.

Uzbekneftegaz management also emphasized the need to synchronize well startup with the readiness of the entire production infrastructure. At the meeting, it was noted that after drilling is completed, no new obstacles to connecting produced gas to the system should arise. Therefore, the condition of pipelines, process equipment, compressor stations, and power supply systems must be monitored simultaneously with the wells.

Preventing process accidents was a key issue. In August, there were virtually no accidents recorded at the Gazli and Shurtan oil and gas production departments. The company attributes this to strengthened monitoring and measures taken since the beginning of the year to adjust process equipment, power supply systems, instrumentation, and automation, as well as to address any identified deficiencies.

Meanwhile, at other departments, the consequences of accidents that occurred in August led to a decrease in the production of natural gas, gas condensate, and liquefied gas. Sanginov instructed that the focus be placed on preventing similar situations, not just eliminating their consequences.

Responsible officials have been tasked with significantly reducing the number of accidents next month and completing preventive maintenance and repair work before the onset of cold weather.

According to Abdugani Sanginov, measures to counteract the natural decline in production enable the production of additional natural gas volumes and improve production indicators. However, accidents at individual departments are negatively impacting the achieved results.

Following the meeting, department management was instructed to clearly document the deadlines for each task, the status of each well, the readiness of process facilities, and the reasons for the loss of gas production.
