Uzbekistan's track and field athletes won 61 medals and won the Central Asian Championships. Photo

The Uzbekistan track and field team won a convincing victory at the 3rd Open Central Asian Championships, held in Tashkent from August 23 to 25, winning 61 medals and taking first place in the overall team standings.

Uzbek athletes demonstrated outstanding results, adding 22 gold, 20 silver, and 19 bronze medals to their tally. Approximately 300 athletes from nine countries participated in the competition.

In addition to competing for medals, the tournament offered participants the opportunity to earn ranking points needed to qualify for the World Championships, which will be held in Beijing in 2027.

The coaching staff of the Uzbekistan national team also used these competitions as an important stage to assess the current form of the athletes ahead of the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.

It was previously reported that young athletes from Uzbekistan successfully competed at the Asian U20 Championships, winning six medals.
