Uzbekistan’s payment terminal turnover reaches $32.7bn in 7M26

Uzbekistan recorded a payment terminal turnover of $32.7 billion in the first seven months of 2026.

As of August 1, the number of bank cards in circulation across Uzbekistan reached 75.7 million, marking a 10.9% increase since the start of the year. During the January-July 2026 period, payment terminals processed UZS 387.4 trillion ($32.7 billion) in transactions.

At the beginning of 2026, there were 68.3 million bank cards in circulation. An additional 7.4 million cards were issued over the first seven months of the year, bringing the total to 75.7 million. The number of installed payment terminals also saw an increase of 22,700, rising from 430,800 to 453,500, which represents a 5.3% growth.

Concurrently, the number of ATMs and information kiosks expanded by 17.3%, growing from 40,100 to 47,000. The UZS 387.4 trillion ($32.7 billion) in revenue processed by payment terminals from January to July 2026 compares to UZS 460.3 trillion ($38.9 billion) for the entirety of 2025.

The growth in terminal turnover has outpaced the increase in bank cards, with terminal turnover rising by 44.3% against a 10.9% increase in the number of cards. This led to an increase in the average monthly turnover per bank card from UZS 562,000 ($47.5) to UZS 731,000 ($61.8), indicating a greater adoption of cashless payment methods for daily transactions.

In March, Uzbekistan's banking sector reported 70.9 million bank cards in circulation and over 439,000 payment terminals, with digital payment transactions exceeding $6.9 billion.

Cashless payments at fuel stations also saw an increase in April, with daily revenues reaching approximately $12 million, as bank cards constituted nearly 90% of non-cash transactions.
