Uzbekistan’s passenger car production rises 9.4% in January–July 2026

Uzbekistan's National Statistics Committee reports a 9.4% surge in passenger car manufacturing for the January–July 2026 period, with a total of 263,731 vehicles produced, up from 241,109 during the corresponding months of the previous year. Truck output also saw an increase, reaching 3,175 units compared to 2,572 a year prior.

This overall growth was mirrored by notable shifts in individual brand performance. BYD's production more than doubled, escalating from 8,601 vehicles in January–July 2025 to 17,765 this year. Haval's output climbed by 30.6% to 5,778 vehicles, and Kia's production saw an 18.8% rise, reaching 17,125 units.

The Cobalt model maintained its position as the most-produced, with 91,140 units manufactured during this timeframe, an increase from 83,167 a year earlier. Onix production also grew, reaching 20,445 units compared to 18,734 in 2025.

Conversely, some established models experienced a decline in production. Damas output decreased from 51,587 to 47,521 units, while Tracker production saw a slight dip from 26,385 to 25,779. Chery production also marginally decreased from 4,838 to 4,801 vehicles.

Specialized passenger car production expanded from 28,953 to 32,445 units. The 2026 statistics also introduced a new model, the Chevrolet Damas Move, with 932 vehicles produced between April and June. Furthermore, automotive engine production reached 137,606 units, an increase from 131,796 in January–July 2025.

In the first half of 2026, Uzbekistan manufactured 235,700 passenger cars, representing a 12.8% year-on-year increase. During this period, Cobalt remained the nation's leading model in terms of production volume, while BYD demonstrated the most rapid production growth among major manufacturers.
