Uzbekistan’s industrial output rises 7.9% to $67.2bn as gas production falls

Uzbekistan's industrial output for the initial seven months of 2026 reached UZS 795.4 trillion ($67.2 billion), marking a 7.9% increase compared to the same period last year, despite a decrease in gas production. Manufacturing was the primary contributor, making up 86.8% of the total output.

Manufacturing output specifically amounted to UZS 690.7 trillion ($58.3 billion). Mining and quarrying generated UZS 50.2 trillion ($4.2 billion), while the supply of electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning contributed UZS 50.4 trillion ($4.3 billion). Regionally, Navoi led with UZS 182.7 trillion ($15.4 billion) in industrial output, followed by Tashkent city at UZS 135.4 trillion ($11.4 billion), and Tashkent Region at UZS 124.8 trillion ($10.5 billion).

Conversely, natural gas production saw a decrease of approximately 15%, falling to 21.6 billion cubic meters from 25.4 billion cubic meters in January–July 2025. Oil production also declined from 378,800 tonnes to 368,700 tons, and coal output dropped to 3.5 million tons from 4 million tons a year prior. Gas condensate production similarly decreased from 667,900 tons to 567,500 tons.

In contrast, fuel production experienced growth. Motor gasoline output rose to 731,900 tons from 672,100 tons, and diesel production increased to 683,400 tons from 673,700 tons. Electricity generation also saw a 6.4% year-on-year increase, reaching 52.5 billion kWh. However, thermal energy production by large enterprises decreased by 18.3% to 10.1 million Gcal.

As of August 1, Uzbekistan had 63,900 industrial enterprises. Food production constituted the largest segment with 12,800 enterprises, followed by non-metallic mineral products and clothing manufacturing.

Earlier reports indicated that Uzbekistan's industrial goods production in the first half of 2026 totaled UZS 637.2 trillion ($53.3 billion), an 8% increase year-on-year. Manufacturing accounted for over 86% of this total, with passenger car production exceeding 235,000 units.
