Uzbekistan’s electricity generation rises 8.6% y/y on November 1

Uzbekistan generated 248.6mn kWh of electricity on November 1, 2026, up 8.6% y/y, with thermal power plants accounting for the largest share at 203.2mn kWh, while hydropower and solar generation rose by 41.1% and 35.2%, offsetting a 71% decline in wind power output.

Uzbekistan’s electricity output climbs 8.6% y/y on November 1

Uzbekistan produced 248.6mn kWh of electricity on November 1, 2026, marking an 8.6% rise from the 228.9mn kWh generated on the same date a year earlier.

Thermal power plants made up the biggest portion of output, generating 203.2mn kWh, which was 8.7% higher than the 187mn kWh recorded in 2025.

Hydropower generation increased 41.1% year on year to 17.5mn kWh, while solar power plants produced 21.5mn kWh, up 35.2% from 15.9mn kWh.

Wind power generation, by contrast, dropped 71% to 3.1mn kWh, compared with 10.7mn kWh a year earlier.

Block power plants generated 3mn kWh, an 11.1% increase from 2.7mn kWh, while small-capacity solar panels produced 0.3mn kWh, up 50% from 0.2mn kWh in the same period last year.

Earlier, it was reported that Uzbekistan generated 69.6bn kWh of electricity in January–September 2026, up 8.4% year on year, while imports declined by 27.2% to 1.9bn kWh.

Thermal power plants produced 49.1bn kWh over the nine-month period, while large-scale solar and wind facilities generated 10.5bn kWh and hydropower plants contributed 6.6bn kWh. Small-scale solar installations added another 2.5bn kWh, up by 500mn kWh year on year.

Electricity consumption reached 68.1bn kWh, an increase of 6.3%, while exports rose by 21.4% to 3.4bn kWh. The ministry expects electricity generation to reach 94.6bn kWh by the end of 2026, with annual consumption projected at 92.2bn kWh.

The growth in solar generation has also been backed by household incentives. Uzbekistan paid UZS 642.1bn ($53.3mn) in subsidies to 70,700 individuals under its “Sunny House” program in January–September 2026 for electricity generated by household solar panels and fed into the national grid.
