Uzbekistan intends to acquire eight more Hyundai Rotem high-speed trains

A delegation from "O'zbekiston Temir Yo'llari" (Uzbekistan Railways) discussed with the South Korean company Hyundai Rotem the upgrading of high-speed trains and the potential purchase of eight more trainsets. The new trains will feature separate VIP carriages with modern seats.

The delegation of JSC "O'zbekiston Temir Yo'llari" held talks in Berlin with the management of the South Korean company Hyundai Rotem within the framework of the international transport technology trade fair InnoTrans 2026.

One of the key topics of the meeting was improving passenger comfort. The parties agreed to modify the last two carriages in the already planned high-speed trainsets. Instead of business-class seats, VIP seats with tables will be installed in them. Each trainset will have one such carriage.

In addition, "O'zbekiston Temir Yo'llari" and Hyundai Rotem discussed a new contract for the purchase of eight high-speed electric trains.

It is expected that each new trainset will include a separate VIP carriage. It is planned to install modern capsule seats in it. The final configuration and specifications will be determined during the preparation of the documentation.

The negotiations with Hyundai Rotem were part of the business program of the Uzbek delegation at InnoTrans 2026. In Berlin, the delegates of "O'zbekiston Temir Yo'llari" also met with representatives of the European Commission, China's CRRC Corporation Limited, Deutsche Bahn, and the railway companies of Serbia, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, and the Czech Skoda Group.

With CRRC, they discussed the maintenance of new trains, the purchase of locomotives, the establishment of a service center for locomotive repair and maintenance, as well as the production of modern freight wagons with gauge-changing capabilities.

With Deutsche Bahn, the parties agreed on professional development for Uzbek specialists and joint scientific research. Negotiations on the digitalization of the railway industry were also held with Huawei and other technology companies.

The InnoTrans exhibition takes place in Berlin once every two years and is considered one of the largest international platforms for demonstrating new technologies in the field of railway and public transport.

Earlier, it was reported that new "Jaloliddin Manguberdi" high-speed electric trains from Hyundai Rotem would be launched on various routes in Uzbekistan.
