Uzbekistan plans 300 MW solar power plant in Kashkadarya region

Uzbekistan plans to commission a 300 MW solar power plant and a 75 MW energy storage system in Kashkadarya region in 2027 as part of a broader effort to expand the region’s energy infrastructure.

Uzbekistan is planning a 300 MW solar power plant in the Kashkadarya region.

According to information presented at a meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the region’s socioeconomic development, the project will be carried out by Masdar.

The government also intends to invest $70 million in two major substations in the Nishan and Kukdala districts, with both facilities set to go into operation next year.

In addition, $150 million has been earmarked for a 245-kilometer transmission line linking Tolimarjon and Sogdiana. Officials have been told to finish the project in 2027.

At the same time, construction of a 45 MW waste-to-energy plant in Karshi district, being built in partnership with a Chinese company, is close to completion.

Beyond energy, the authorities plan to expand industrial cooperation around major enterprises. Six industrial clusters are expected to be created by the end of 2026 in Guzar, Shurtan, Mubarak, Dehkanabad and Nishan.

The government also plans to open branches of the Kashkadarya Free Economic Zone in Shurtan, Mubarak, Yakkabag and Kasansay. An initial UZS 250 billion will be set aside to build the required infrastructure.

Additional plans include localizing the production of modern tractors and agricultural machinery assembled by Chinese company FM World, as well as starting agricultural drone production at the same site.
