Uzbekistan has updated the procedure for transferring prisoners between prison colonies.

Uzbekistan has adjusted the procedure for transferring inmates between correctional facilities.

The Ministry of Justice has registered an order from the Minister of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan amending and supplementing the Regulation on the Procedure for Sending Inmates to Penitentiary Institutions and Transferring Them from One Institution to Another.

This document (a copy of which is available to the editors) was adopted to implement a law aimed at providing remote video visits for individuals serving sentences in correctional facilities.

According to the updated regulations, the Department for the Execution of Punishments under the Ministry of Internal Affairs now reviews documents that serve as the basis for transferring inmates.

Based on the review of the submitted materials, a conclusion is drawn up, which is subject to approval by the head of the department or his first deputy.

The transfer of an inmate to another similar facility is carried out on the basis of an approved conclusion or court decision, in accordance with the assignment prepared by the department's Special Records Department.

Furthermore, changes have been officially incorporated into the regulatory procedure, allowing for remote video visits for inmates.
