Uzbekistan has taken 1st place among CIS countries in wired internet speed

Uzbekistan took 1st place among the CIS countries in terms of wired internet speed in the Speedtest Global Index ranking. This was reported by the Ministry of Digital Technologies.
In August, the average download speed via wired internet in Uzbekistan increased from 94.23 Mbps to 94.50 Mbps. Thanks to this, the country rose in the global ranking from 73rd to 76th place.
Growth was also recorded in mobile internet speed. In August, the download speed increased from 62.42 Mbps to 65.27 Mbps, and Uzbekistan rose from 75th to 72nd place. It is also noted that since the beginning of 2026, mobile internet download speed has grown by 27%.
Over eight months, this indicator increased from 51.42 Mbps to 65.27 Mbps.

A new edition of the Rules for the Provision of Telecommunications Services was registered by the Ministries of Justice and Digital Technologies. This will simplify the procedure for using mobile and other communication services.
On May 1, 2026, at a presentation reviewed by Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the issue of improving internet infrastructure in schools of Uzbekistan was also raised.
It was noted that 69% of the country's schools lack Wi-Fi zones, 5,000 computer classes are outdated, and 2,000 schools have no such classrooms at all.
For this reason, measures have been defined to introduce free Wi-Fi hotspots in schools, increase internet speed, and upgrade 16,000 computer classes by 2030.
