Uzbekistan has begun testing labeling for vegetable oils.
A pilot project for digital labeling of vegetable oils has been launched in Uzbekistan, with Balton Trading joining the project.
Testing of a digital labeling system for vegetable oils has begun in Uzbekistan, marking the expansion of this initiative. Currently, the labeling process for this product category is in the pilot phase, giving companies the opportunity to prepare the necessary equipment and software and train staff in new procedures, according to the O'zbekiston 24 television channel.
Balton Trading, a company specializing in the import of vegetable oils, is participating in this pilot project. At its facilities, digital labeling is being integrated into the existing supply chain, covering all stages—from the acceptance of incoming batches to their storage and subsequent shipment to customers.
Mansur Yuldashev, Supply Chain Director at Balton Trading, emphasized that participation in the project allows the company to proactively master new procedures and prepare employees to handle labeled products even before mandatory requirements are introduced.
The process begins before the goods arrive at the warehouse: specialists receive labeling codes from the system operator, print them, and apply them to each unit. Group codes are then generated, followed by aggregation at the pallet level. Information about the group packaging codes contained within is recorded on the pallet.
Kirill Repetiy, Balton Trading's labeling specialist, noted that the implementation of this system will allow the company to reduce time and other resource costs in future processing of labeled products.
As part of the pilot project, the company has trained over 100 employees. They are practicing procedures for accepting labeled batches, verifying codes, completing the necessary documentation, and preparing products for shipment.
Participation in the test mode also provides companies with the opportunity to test the full digital labeling cycle, select optimal technical solutions, receive consulting support, and proactively identify potential organizational and technical issues.
The pilot project places particular emphasis on customs clearance of imported products. Zhasur Kayumov, pilot project manager for the digital labeling system operator, announced that, starting July 1, 2026, mandatory digital labeling of vegetable oils will require the indication of labeling codes during customs clearance. However, the deadline stated in the television report was December 31, 2026.
Therefore, during the pilot project, companies are practicing not only the application of codes and internal accounting of labeled products, but also import-related procedures.
After the labeling is implemented, each unit of product will receive its own digital identification, and the company will have a proven procedure for handling goods at various stages of their movement.
