Uzbekistan discussed the implementation of AI in customs.

The Customs Committee of Uzbekistan held a meeting with representatives of WEBB FONTAINE (UAE), discussing the digitalization of customs administration and the implementation of advanced technologies, according to the Customs Committee's press service.

Meeting participants focused on information technology, risk management, and optimization of customs control. Topics related to determining customs value, classifying goods, tracking transit operations, and developing a single-window system were also discussed.

Particular attention was paid to the potential of using artificial intelligence in customs operations. Technological solutions capable of analyzing large volumes of data, generating risk indicators, identifying violations, and facilitating decision-making were discussed.

Opening the meeting, I. Mukhtorov, Advisor to the Chairman of the Customs Committee, emphasized that the digitalization of customs administration, the active implementation of modern technologies, and strengthening international cooperation are key priorities.

E. Khakimov, Head of the Customs Committee Department, presented information on current information systems, existing technological needs, and promising areas for technical cooperation.

Representatives of WEBB FONTAINE, in turn, demonstrated their company's latest developments and shared practical experience. Specifically, they discussed platforms designed to improve customs administration and simplify trade procedures, the architecture of information systems, and the possibilities of integrating them with national information systems.

During the meeting, issues of determining the customs value and classifying goods were also discussed in detail. The parties exchanged views on the analysis of comparable prices and mechanisms for identifying cases of customs valuation understatement.

Furthermore, the participants discussed the classification of goods according to the Commodity Nomenclature of Foreign Economic Activity (CN VED), as well as further improvements to post-control and audit systems.
