Uzbekistan and China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) have discussed cooperation on underground gas storage, upgrades to the gas transportation network and the development of new oil and gas fields.

Uzbekistan and CNPC have discussed a gas storage project and the development of new oil and gas fields.
The matter was raised during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev and a Chinese delegation headed by Zhou Xinhuai, a member of CNPC’s board of directors and the company’s president.
Khodjaev noted that Uzbekistan was among the first countries Zhou visited after assuming his new post.
The two sides concentrated on moving forward with an underground gas storage project, strengthening the reliability of Uzbekistan’s gas transportation system, and developing new hydrocarbon deposits.
Khodjaev welcomed CNPC’s interest in increasing its investment in Uzbekistan and said the country was ready to consider new proposals on mutually beneficial terms.
CNPC is China’s largest oil and gas company and is among the world’s biggest corporations in the Fortune Global 500. It is also a major partner in Uzbekistan’s oil and gas sector.
