Uzbekistan and Singapore to deepen cooperation in IP

Uzbekistan and Singapore intend to deepen cooperation in the field of intellectual property. As part of the agreements reached, the parties plan to expand cooperation to include IP commercialization, digitalization of patent examination, and dispute resolution through mediation. These agreements were reached during a meeting between the Uzbek delegation, led by Justice Minister Akbar Tashkulov, and the head of the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS), Tan Kong Hoe. The talks took place during Singapore Convention Week 2026, according to the Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan.

The international conference Singapore Convention Week 2026, being held in Singapore, is dedicated to advanced methods of mediation, arbitration, and international commercial dispute resolution. Topics discussed include the use of legal technologies and artificial intelligence in conflict resolution.

During the meeting, representatives of Uzbekistan and IPOS discussed the exchange of experience in transforming intellectual property into an economic asset and its commercialization. Particular attention will be paid to cooperation in the field of digitalization of patent examination. The parties also agreed to exchange knowledge and practices in the use of mediation to resolve intellectual property disputes. This mechanism is considered part of the further development of the partnership between the relevant agencies of the two countries.

Following the talks, an agreement was reached to organize training programs with the participation of Singaporean experts. These trainings will be aimed at enhancing the skills of Uzbek specialists in the field of intellectual property commercialization and accelerating the development of startups.

The Uzbek delegation, led by Justice Minister Akbar Tashkulov, is actively participating in Singapore Convention Week 2026. As part of the international week, the parties will also discuss the application of modern legal tools and technologies in dispute resolution.

Cooperation with IPOS entails the integration of international experience into Uzbekistan's national practice, the development of approaches to intellectual property commercialization, and the improvement of dispute resolution mechanisms.
