Uzbekistan and Mongolia to expand trade and logistics cooperation

Uzbekistan and Mongolia intend to deepen cooperation in trade and logistics.

The Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan reports on the talks held, during which issues related to the further development of trade, economic, transport, and logistics cooperation were discussed. Specifically, new international routes and the introduction of digital technologies into cross-border processes were discussed.

Damdin-Od Dulguun, Executive Director of the International Analytical Center for Landlocked Developing Countries, participated in the meeting, which was held at the Ministry.

As of the end of 2025, trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Mongolia reached $51.8 million. The parties also noted the successful holding of a business forum in May 2026, which was attended by over 70 companies from both countries.

The discussion focused on increasing the production of high-value-added goods and establishing reliable supply chains. Participants also discussed the potential for creating new international transport corridors, simplifying trade procedures, and digitalizing cross-border transactions.

Special attention was paid to the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project. Participants believed that its implementation would open up additional opportunities for developing intermodal transport links between Mongolia and Uzbekistan, as well as with other countries in Central Asia and the South Caucasus.

Following the talks, an agreement was reached to work together to prepare for and host the 25th CAREC Ministerial Conference, scheduled for October 2026 in Ulaanbaatar.
