Uzbekistan and Malaysia discussed visa facilitation

According to Dunyo news agency, representatives of Uzbekistan and the Malaysian Department of Migration held talks on further simplifying the visa regime for Uzbek citizens. Among the measures discussed were the introduction of a visa-free regime for up to 30 days and streamlining the process for obtaining long-term visas.

During a meeting between Uzbek diplomats and Aminudin bin Yahaya, Deputy Director-General of the Malaysian Department of Migration, prospects for expanding cooperation in the field of migration were discussed.

The Uzbek delegation briefed the delegation on ongoing reforms to the country's visa policy. They also discussed ensuring the security of external labor migration and supporting Uzbek citizens studying and working abroad.

Both sides noted the progressive development of Uzbek-Malaysian relations in areas such as trade, economics, tourism, education, and cultural and humanitarian affairs. Representatives of the Malaysian Immigration Department noted an increase in the number of Uzbek citizens receiving official residence permits in Malaysia.

According to the Malaysian side, Uzbek citizens primarily come to Malaysia for education and employment as skilled professionals.
