Uzbekistan and JBIC discussed projects in the fields of healthcare and renewable energy
On October 8, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan Jamshid Kuchkarov held a meeting with Hiroki Sekine, Senior Managing Director and Member of the Board of Directors of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC).
The talks were also attended by Kohei Toyoda, the bank's Regional Head for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, Botir Mutalov, JBIC representative in Uzbekistan, Yohei Higashida, Director General of the New Energy and Power Finance Department, and other officials.
During the conversation, the parties reviewed the development of mutually beneficial partnership, the expansion of current initiatives, and the implementation of promising joint projects. Special attention was paid to infrastructure projects implemented on the basis of public-private partnership in such strategically important areas as healthcare and energy, with an emphasis on the active use of renewable energy sources.
The parties also exchanged views on attracting Japanese companies to project implementation and expanding financing mechanisms. Following the talks, an agreement was reached to bring bilateral cooperation to a new stage and to continue an active exchange of views on all key areas.
