Uzbekistan and Iran held political consultations in Tehran

On August 17, 2026, the next round of political consultations between the foreign ministries of Uzbekistan and Iran took place in Tehran, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state of Uzbek-Iranian relations and outlined paths for their further development. Particular attention was paid to strengthening political dialogue and expanding practical cooperation.
The Uzbek delegation was led by First Deputy Foreign Minister Bakhromjon Aloyev. The Iranian side was represented at the consultations by Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Majid Takhti-Ravanchi.
The participants in the talks discussed in detail issues of trade, economic, and investment cooperation. They also touched on developing transport and transit ties and expanding cultural and humanitarian exchanges between the two countries.
Representatives of Uzbekistan and Iran discussed cooperation within international and regional organizations. In addition, an exchange of views took place on current regional and international issues of mutual interest.
Following the consultations, the parties confirmed their interest in further deepening bilateral cooperation and continuing regular political dialogue between the foreign ministries of the two countries.
