Uzbekistan and China expand cooperation in textiles

Uzbek and Chinese companies discussed investments, raw material supplies, technologies, and the creation of joint ventures in the textile industry.

Uzbekistan and China intend to deepen cooperation in the textile sector, covering areas such as raw material supplies, the introduction of advanced technologies, attracting investment, and the establishment of joint ventures.

These agreements were reached during talks held in the Chinese city of Aral, located in Xinjiang. The meetings were held as part of the Xinjiang-Aral Textile Raw Materials Summit and the 20th Cotton and Textile Industry Forum, according to the Uztekstilprom Association.

The events were attended by approximately 300 industry representatives, including a delegation from the Uzbek textile industry, representatives of domestic companies and industry associations, and leading Chinese enterprises.

The participants discussed the current state and development prospects of the cotton and textile industries, changes in the raw materials market, investment opportunities, and the development of production chains. Particular attention was paid to entering new foreign markets.

During B2B negotiations, Uzbek companies discussed with their Chinese partners the supply of synthetic and chemical fibers, such as polyester, viscose, and lyocell. The parties also explored opportunities for cooperation in the production of blended fabrics, the implementation of dyeing and finishing technologies, automation of production processes, and the implementation of joint investment projects.

Chinese companies, in turn, expressed interest in locating production facilities and placing orders with Uzbek enterprises. The establishment of joint ventures targeting the markets of Central Asia, the CIS, and the European Union was also discussed.

The Chinese partners view Uzbekistan as a potential regional production and trading platform. Specific investment volumes or parameters of potential projects were not specified in the announcement.

Another important area of cooperation will be the training and professional development of creative professionals. The Uztekstilprom Association and Chinese industry partners agreed to collaborate in training local designers and fashion designers, as well as developing their professional skills.

Following the meetings, the parties identified further areas of cooperation related to investment, production cooperation, technology, and exports.

The agreements reached are expected to contribute to the expansion of Uzbek-Chinese cooperation in the textile industry and the development of export opportunities for Uzbek enterprises.
