Uzbekistan and China are expanding cooperation in the field of ophthalmology, which creates a basis for the exchange of experience between specialists and joint surgical operations. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan.
Since 2019, within the framework of the "One Space, One Road" program, in cooperation with Chinese hospitals and companies, more than 4 thousand citizens with cataracts in need of social protection in Uzbekistan have been provided with surgical assistance.
The "Connecting Light and Kindness" campaign is currently being held for the sixth time. Its opening ceremony was held at the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Eye Microsurgery.
It is planned to restore the vision of 150 patients within the framework of this campaign. The event is being held with the participation of the Chinese side as part of the developing medical cooperation between the two countries.
During the ceremony, Advisor to the Minister of Health of Uzbekistan Elmira Basitkhanova presented the "Excellent Healthcare Worker of the Republic of Uzbekistan" badge to Zhang Xiongping, head of the Chinese company "Asia-Europe International Materials Trading Center".
Cooperation between Uzbek and Chinese ophthalmologists includes regular exchange of experience in modern diagnostic and treatment methods, as well as joint surgical operations.
