Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan have signed a Treaty on Eternal Friendship. The presidential press service reported this.

At the end of the high-level negotiations, a ceremony of signing bilateral documents was held. At the meeting, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Ilham Aliyev signed the Treaty on Eternal Friendship and the resolution of the third meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council.

In the text of the treaty, published by Azerbaijani media, the parties confirm that they base their relations on eternal friendship, mutual trust, strategic partnership and alliance, adhering to the generally recognized principles and norms of international law.

The parties also agreed to support each other in choosing development paths and models that correspond to their national realities, as well as each other's positions on key issues affecting their fundamental interests.

The countries undertook not to participate in any blocs or alliances that would undermine each other's sovereignty, security and territorial integrity, as well as not to take any actions directed against each other. The parties also agree not to allow third countries to use their territories to undermine the state sovereignty, security and territorial integrity of the other party.

Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan intend to develop inter-parliamentary ties, strengthen legal cooperation, trade and economic, humanitarian, cultural ties, as well as joint projects in various fields. They also agreed to create conditions for strengthening the interconnected transport system.

In the agreement, the parties confirmed their commitment to strengthening the central role of the UN in preventing and resolving conflicts and addressing regional and global security and stability issues.

Earlier, the presidents of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan awarded each other with the highest state orders of the two countries. Shavkat Mirziyoyev was awarded the Heydar Aliyev Order, and Ilham Aliyev was awarded the Order of Friendship of the Highest Degree.
