Uzbekistan and Armenia to expand cooperation in five sectors at once

Uzbekistan and Armenia intend to expand cooperation in five areas at once

Uzbekistan and Armenia plan to more actively develop joint projects in a number of sectors — from the jewelry and pharmaceutical industries to tourism.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Nikol Pashinyan discussed promising areas of cooperation during a meeting in Avaza. Agriculture, light industry, and the chemical industry were also named among the priorities. The parties expect to promote cooperation projects through the Intergovernmental Commission and joint business events.

Currently, 80 enterprises with the participation of Armenian capital operate in Uzbekistan, and there is a direct air connection between Tashkent and Yerevan.

During the meeting, Mirziyoyev and Pashinyan also touched upon the international agenda and cooperation between the two countries in multilateral organizations.

In September, the parties separately discussed new joint projects and the development of transport corridors between Central Asia and the South Caucasus.
