Uzbek football legend Akopyants becomes sports director of "Rostov" academy
Former Uzbekistan national team football player Andrey Akopyants has been appointed sports director of the academy of the Russian football club "Rostov". This was announced by the team's press service.
Akopyants is well acquainted with the club: in the early 2000s, he played 116 matches for "Rostov" and scored five goals. Since 2017, the specialist has worked as a coach at the club's youth sports school, managing teams of various ages.
In Uzbekistan, Akopyants played for "Pakhtakor", "Dinamo" Samarkand, "Neftchi", and "Bukhara". He played 40 matches and scored six goals for the national team. In 1999, he was named the best football player of Uzbekistan.
Today, the Uzbekistan national team crushed Syria in a friendly match with a score of 4:1. Husain Norchaev scored a brace.
