Uzbek doctor saves unconscious passenger on Tashkent – Seoul flight
A doctor from Uzbekistan saved the life of a passenger whose health sharply deteriorated during a flight from Tashkent to Seoul.
The incident occurred on October 11 aboard Uzbekistan Airways flight HY511.
According to the Ministry of Health of the republic, medical assistance was provided by Khasan Komilov — an otorhinolaryngologist, head of a private clinic in Samarkand, and a researcher at Tashkent State Medical University, who is currently undergoing advanced training at the South Korean Chungbuk National University.
During the flight, the crew made an announcement over the loudspeaker asking for a medical professional, after which the doctor immediately went to the victim. The unconscious woman had no detectable blood pressure or pulse, and her skin had turned blue and cold, indicating a state of shock.
Using his own medications, as well as an oxygen mask and a first-aid kit provided by the flight attendants, the doctor began resuscitation measures. Crew members and fellow passengers actively participated in saving the South Korean citizen, passing blankets, water, and sweets.
After 10–15 minutes at an altitude of 10,000 meters, the patient's condition stabilized, allowing the flight to continue without an emergency landing. Khasan Komilov monitored the passenger's condition for the next hour. Uzbekistan Airways expressed its gratitude to the doctor for his high level of professionalism and promptness.
