Food production has become the largest sector of Uzbekistan's industrial business in terms of the number of enterprises. As of September 1, 2026, there were 13.2 thousand companies operating in this field in Uzbekistan, accounting for 20.2% of the total number of industrial enterprises.
According to data from the National Committee on Statistics, a total of 65.3 thousand industrial enterprises operated in the country. That is, approximately every fifth of them was involved in food production.
The food industry significantly leads other sectors in terms of the number of active enterprises. In second place is the production of other non-metallic mineral products — 9.2 thousand enterprises, or 14% of the total. The third spot is occupied by the manufacture of clothing — 6.7 thousand enterprises (10.3%).
The top five most common sectors also included the manufacture of fabricated metal products — 5.4 thousand enterprises (8.2%) and furniture manufacturing — 4.5 thousand (6.9%).
Another 4 thousand industrial enterprises were focused on textile production, and 3 thousand on the manufacture of rubber and plastic products. Their shares were 6.1% and 4.6%, respectively.
Thus, the interests of Uzbekistan's industrial business are primarily concentrated on food, construction materials, clothing, and metal products. These sectors form a notable part of the country's industrial entrepreneurship.
