Unnamed peaks in Qashqadaryo and Jizzakh renamed

New names have been given to unnamed peaks in Qashqadaryo and Jizzakh
The elevation located in the Gelon section of the Hissar State Reserve in the Qashqadaryo region, which until now has been popularly referred to as the "unnamed peak," has been officially named "Muzqoya." Another unnamed peak located in Jizzakh was renamed "Qirqqiz." A special resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers was adopted in this regard.
According to Qahramon Normurodov, the head of the Hissar State Reserve, for years this elevation was simply referred to as an unnamed peak, and although many names had been proposed for it, it had not been given an official name until now. Now, according to the government decision, it has been named "Muzqoya" because its surroundings are completely covered with ice.
It is reported that in the territory of the reserve, which covers an area of more than 81,000 hectares, there are dozens of peaks with heights ranging from 2,500 meters to 4,387 meters, and this unnamed peak, with a height of 4,360 meters, is almost the highest among them.
Additionally, the reserve administration stated that it keeps records of all natural objects in the area and has submitted proposals to the Cabinet of Ministers to name a total of 38 natural objects.
Furthermore, another mountain peak located in the Turkestan mountain range in the Bakhmal district of the Jizzakh region, between the Guralashsoy and Kulsuv streams, which has been referred to as "unnamed" until now, was given the name "Qirqqiz."
For information, on July 9, 2026, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a resolution "On bringing the names of certain mountain ranges, mountains, peaks, gorges, passes, and caves in the country into compliance with the rules and norms of the state language and giving them new names." This document stipulates the regulation of names and the assignment of new names to a total of 124 such geographical objects across the republic.
