Unique mosaics from the Soviet era are being preserved in Tashkent.
The careful dismantling and relocation of unique mosaic compositions on the external walls of the former tuberculosis dispensary in Yunusabad district has begun. These mosaics, located at 6, Niyozbek Yuli Street, 3rd lane, are being considered by the Cultural Heritage Agency as candidates for inclusion in the National Register of Immovable Property Objects of Tangible Cultural Heritage.
Since dismantling work is planned in the building of the former tuberculosis dispensary, built in 1972, it was decided to relocate the mosaic compositions to another area in order to preserve their integrity, historical and artistic value.
According to the Cultural Heritage Agency, these mosaics are unique examples of monumental art from the second half of the 20th century. Their artistic value is associated with the originality of the compositional solution, the harmony of colors and the theme of the images.
The mosaics reflect the ideas of man, nature, labor, creativity, science, and peace in an artistic interpretation. Different colors of enamel and other elements of mosaic were used to create the images.
It is expected that the transfer of these compositions will allow them to be preserved as examples of the monumental art of their time and passed on to future generations.
