Ukraine's allies agree to increase pressure on Russia
The member states of the "Coalition of the Willing" have agreed to increase military assistance to Ukraine, strengthen the country's air defense system and help prepare the energy sector for winter. They also plan to tighten sanctions against Russia, combat its "shadow fleet" and increase pressure on those who help Moscow evade sanctions.

On August 24, the next meeting of the leaders of the "Coalition of the Willing" was held in Kiev. The meeting was organized to mark the 35th anniversary of Ukraine's independence.
Some heads of state visited Kiev in person, while others participated in the talks via video conference.
At the end of the meeting, the coalition members agreed on further steps to support Ukraine in its fight against Russian military aggression.
In a joint statement, the participants strongly condemned Russia's "systematic and increasingly aggressive attacks" on Ukrainian cities, critical infrastructure, and civilians.
They also highlighted attacks on Ukrainian cultural sites, including the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra.
The document reiterated that Ukraine has the right to self-defense against Russian aggression in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter and international law.
The coalition members also stressed that the threats made by Russia cannot force them to abandon their support for Ukraine.
Kiev's allies have expressed their intention to increase the volume of military assistance to Ukraine. The main focus will be on strengthening the country's air defense system.
It is also planned to expand cooperation with the Ukrainian defense industry and intensify the exchange of military technologies. This work will be carried out, including through the missile defense coalition.
The allies also intend to tighten sanctions against the Russian military-industrial complex. Additional measures are planned to be taken against companies, organizations and other entities that help Moscow circumvent existing restrictions.
The meeting also paid special attention to the issue of preparing the Ukrainian energy system for the upcoming winter season.
The joint statement stressed the need for urgent assistance to Ukraine's energy sector.
