Two projects from Uzbekistan received Erasmus+ funding
Karakalpak State University and WIUT have been selected for funding under the 2026 Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Actions competition.
Two Uzbek projects have received Erasmus+ grants.
Following the 2026 Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Actions (JMA) competition, two projects from Uzbekistan have been selected for funding. The winning initiatives are from Karakalpak State University and Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT), according to Erasmus+.
Karakalpak State University received support for a Jean Monnet Module project, while WIUT will implement a Jean Monnet Chair project.
A total of 156 applications were submitted from Uzbekistan. Of these, two projects, including one Jean Monnet Module and one Jean Monnet Chair, were selected for funding.
A total of 2,223 applications were received for the 2026 Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Actions competition. Of these, 327 projects were recommended for funding, representing 15% of the total number of applications submitted. It is noteworthy that 147 of the selected projects, or 45% of all funded initiatives, will be implemented in countries outside the Erasmus+ program.
The Jean Monnet Actions program aims to develop academic and research capacity in the field of European Union studies. It also promotes dialogue between the academic community, government policymakers, and the public.
For Uzbekistan, the results of the competition mean support for two educational projects to be implemented by Karakalpak State University and WIUT. The allocated funding will enable these higher education institutions to implement their initiatives within the relevant Jean Monnet Actions areas.
