Two people who broke into a base housing NATO and US intelligence centers have been detained

The incident occurred on the night of October 8 at the RAF Molesworth base in Cambridgeshire. The detained men are 32 and 36 years old and reside in the UK.

According to police, a security patrol first spotted an abandoned vehicle near the base. It was then discovered that the fence around the facility had been damaged. Two men were found inside the base territory and arrested.

They were initially detained on suspicion of unauthorized entry into a prohibited area and criminal damage. Later, action was also taken against them on suspicion of entering a prohibited site for purposes prejudicial to the interests of the UK.

The incident is being investigated by counter-terrorism police. The exact motive of the suspects is being determined during the investigation.

No connection found with the Fairford incident

Police stated that there is currently no reason to link this event to the incident that occurred near the Fairford airbase at the end of September.

At that time, a local resident reported suspicious activity around the base. Police inspected three vans and found gasoline inside them. The area was cordoned off, and residents of a nearby village were evacuated.

Seven suspects were detained in connection with the Fairford case, all of whom were later released under certain conditions.

Following this, the US decided to withdraw B-1 bomber aircraft from the Fairford base. President Donald Trump explained this as being due to threats coming from individuals associated with Iran, according to him.
