Two people injured in transformer fire in Tashkent

On October 27, a video circulated on social media showing a man on fire in the street while bystanders try to extinguish the flames.

Posts claimed that a high-rise residential building was left without electricity following an explosion at a transformer, and that the victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

"Toshkent shahar elektr tarmoqlari" commented on the information, stating that the fire occurred at a transformer substation in the Parkwood residential complex on Nukus Street in the Mirabad district.

According to the enterprise, this transformer substation is not listed on the balance sheet of the Tashkent City Territorial Branch of JSC "Hududiy elektr tarmoqlari".

According to preliminary data, the fire was caused by a phase-to-phase short circuit during repair work on the transformer.

The report emphasizes that the man in the video is not an employee of the district electric grid enterprise, and the repairs were being performed by workers from a private company servicing the consumer.

The Tashkent Khokimiyat reported that "two young men suffered burns of varying severity and are receiving medical care."

The condition of the victims has not been reported.
