A man caught fire during transformer repairs in Tashkent. Video

A video has circulated on social media showing a man catching fire during a transformer blaze in Tashkent. According to preliminary data, the victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The Ministry of Energy reported that the cause of the incident was a phase-to-phase short circuit that occurred during repair work.

The incident happened at the Parkwood residential complex in the Mirabad district.

As clarified by the Ministry of Energy, the short circuit occurred during repairs carried out by a consumer's employee. The department also noted that the transformer substation is owned by the consumer and does not belong to the property of "Tashkent City Electric Networks".

The Ministry of Energy reminded of the need to strictly observe safety rules when conducting repair work on electrical equipment.
