Two people sentenced in Kagan for drug trafficking

It is noted that an urgent event was held in the city of Kogon, during which 5 million soums were allocated for controlled purchases.

Two people were sentenced in a drug-related criminal case in Kogon. This was reported to Khabar.uz by Feruz Sharopov, head of the information service of the Bukhara regional court. The convicted persons had no previous convictions.

The Kogon City Criminal Court considered a criminal case against 31-year-old Sunnat Yarashev and 21-year-old Vali Samiev.

During an operational event held in Kogon, 5 million soums were paid for a controlled purchase. Yarashev and Samiev had previously conspired and tried to sell 14.40 grams of the drug "hashish" for this money.

According to Samiev's testimony in court, he left the drug as collateral in exchange for a debt of 5 million soums received from Yarashev. Later, he returned part of the debt and took the substance. During the controlled purchase, he took 5 million soums from a person with the pseudonym "Amir" and went back to Yarashev's house.

Yarashev did not plead guilty. He said that he borrowed money from Samiev, left the drug as collateral, and later returned the loan and took it away. The court assessed these reasons as being given in order to avoid responsibility.

According to witnesses questioned in court and case documents, a drug-like substance and part of the money used in the control measure were taken from Samiev. After that, law enforcement agencies searched Yarashev's residence in Bukhara.

During the search, drug-like substances, 4.3 million soums in cash, special containers, and four plastic bags were found in the house. According to the expert's conclusions, the seized substances were "hashish", and their quantities were determined.

According to Akram Rakhimov, chairman of the Kagan city court, the court found that the charges against Yarashev under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code were not proven. The court took into account the fact that the investigation did not conduct an examination to determine whether the plants in the pots were prohibited cannabis and the type of plant was not determined. The court, relying on the requirements of the Constitution and Criminal Procedure, took into account that all doubts regarding guilt should be resolved in favor of the defendant. On this basis, Yarashev was found not guilty in this case and this part of the case was closed.

However, the court found Yarashev guilty of crimes related to possession of a drug for the purpose of trafficking. He was sentenced to 6 years of imprisonment. By partially adding the sentences, he was sentenced to 8 years of imprisonment.

Samiev, taking into account his age and full confession, was sentenced to 6 years of imprisonment.

Both defendants will serve their sentences in a general regime colony.
