Two individuals who offered illegal "Umrah" services have been detained
The head of an air ticket office operating in the Payariq district of the Samarqand region, despite not having the right to send people on the "Umrah" pilgrimage, offered to organize a trip to Saudi Arabia for a local citizen.
Gaining the citizen's trust, he demanded 1,150 USD in exchange for sending him on the holy pilgrimage.
During a joint operation conducted by the State Security Service and internal affairs bodies, this individual was caught with physical evidence while receiving the requested money.
An individual born in 1988, residing in the Guliston district of the Sirdaryo region, offered to send three citizens to Saudi Arabia for the "Umrah" pilgrimage.
For this, he claimed that the trip would be organized through a travel agency in the city of Tashkent, which allegedly had the authority to organize "Umrah" pilgrimages, and demanded a total of 3,150 USD.
This individual was caught with physical evidence by SSS, Department for Combating Economic Crimes, and MIA officers while receiving an advance of 3.5 million soums of the requested money.
Currently, criminal cases have been initiated against the violators in both cases. Investigations are ongoing.
