Turkey issues international arrest warrant for Netanyahu

Turkey has issued an international arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Turkish Justice Minister Akin Gurlek announced on his X page on August 21.

The decision was made as part of an ongoing investigation into Israel’s interception of a humanitarian aid convoy to Gaza.

Gurlek said on X page: “We firmly reject the idea that the Netanyahu administration, which is implementing a genocidal policy in Gaza, is immune and free from responsibility.”

He added: “We will not allow the crimes committed in Gaza to be covered up or the perpetrators to be protected with impunity. We will resolutely use all the possibilities of national and international law.”

The Justice Minister said that Turkey will continue to stand firmly with the Palestinian people, the oppressed and the conscience of humanity. He also said that all necessary measures will be taken to ensure that those who commit crimes against humanity are held accountable before the law.

Turkey has previously issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and other senior officials, accusing them of committing "genocide" during the Gaza war. In particular, on July 14, Netanyahu was placed on an international wanted list.
